The REGIS experience

The REGIS experience

Although my blog is taking a new focus, I will still do posts from time-to-time about other lifestyle elements and report on events I’ve attended and experiences I’ve enjoyed, and I do love having a pamper and getting my hair done. I’ve always been very relaxed in salons and always find the experience time for me to chill out, unwind, have a natter with my stylist and walk out feeling like I’ve just stepped into a hair commercial (insert hair swishing here).

I was delighted to be invited (such a poet, didn’t know it) to have my hair done at the REGIS salon in Gunwharf Quays, situated in the back of Trade Secret (canal side). I’ve shopped in the store before and perhaps overlooked the small salon at the back.

My stylist Stephen Guest was lovely, extremely attentive and went through all the colour options with me. He’s also part of the REGIS education team, and frequently travels around the country making sure REGIS stylists become the most highly qualified professionals in their field. His passion shines.

I hadn’t had my hair coloured or cut for almost a year (yikes!) so my once silvery blond roots had grown out into my warm, mousey brown/ blond and the ends still silvery blonde. I actually really like the look of darker roots, blending into lighter ends, so we agreed to go slightly darker at the root and make the ends more of a grey toned blond. I didn’t have my hair cut this time round as I’m loving the length and it’s not actually in bad condition.

REGIS have recently introduced L’Oreal Smartbond treatment into its salons, and it’s set to revolutionise your hair colouring experience! Ideal for those with unruly locks and untamable tresses, Smartbond is a two-step colour bonding system to protect the bonds in the hair to prevent the usual damage caused during a colouring service. Step 1 is to have it mixed in with your colour prior to application, and step 2 is the application of a pre-shampoo treatment after rinsing the colour from the hair to remove any chemical residue. Trade Secret also sell a take-home conditioning treatment for weekly use to help strengthen fibres between colour appointments.

I was delighted by the result and cannot thank Stephen and REGIS enough. The intimate service you gain from a small, caring team was joyful and I’d definitely go back again. My hair felt stronger and softer than it has done in ages!

Smartbond only costs an additional £5 in REGIS salons when booking a colour service. The treatment is also available independent of a colour service for just £15. So if your hair is feeling tired and in need of a boost, I’d highly recommend going in for a treatment.
